THE REAL PROBLEM
Most teams don’t have a skills gap, they have a boundaries gap.
You’ve done the offsites. You’ve tried the icebreakers. Maybe even brought in a speaker. But six weeks later, your team is right back to the same patterns, passive communication, avoided conflict, and the slow erosion of psychological safety.
The problem isn’t knowledge. It’s the lack of embodied skills, the kind that only come from practicing under real pressure.
Team members who avoid hard conversations until they become HR issues
Leaders who say yes when they mean no, and burn out doing it
Chronic conflict that nobody knows how to resolve constructively
High-potential employees who disengage because they don’t feel safe to speak up.
THE APPROACH
What if your team could feel a boundary, not just understand one?
Boundary Guard Team Building uses the physical and relational dynamics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a laboratory for the skills your team needs most: emotional regulation, clear communication, mutual respect, and the ability to hold your ground without aggression.
“On the mat, you can’t fake a boundary. You either hold it or you don’t. That’s exactly what makes it so powerful, and exactly why it transfers to the boardroom, the breakroom, and every conversation in between.”
Joao Crus, BJJ Black Belt & Founder
No prior martial arts experience needed. This is relational and psychological training first, physical experience second.
OUTCOMES
What your team walks away knowing how to do.
These aren’t just concepts. These are practiced, embodied skills your people will use the same day they get back to the office.
01 — Communicate Under Pressure
When emotions are elevated, most communication breaks down. Your team will practice staying clear, honest, and grounded even when the stakes feel high.
02 — Set Boundaries Without Burning Bridges
Boundaries are not walls, they are agreements. Your team will learn to say no, push back, and advocate for themselves in ways that build, not damage, relationships.
03 — Regulate Emotional Responses
Reactive behavior is the enemy of healthy teams. Through mat-based practice, your people develop the ability to notice, name, and manage their emotional state in real time.
04 — Navigate Conflict Constructively
Conflict isn’t the problem, unresolved conflict is. Your team will build the confidence and skills to engage disagreement directly, respectfully, and productively.
05 — Build Genuine Psychological Safety
When people practice vulnerability and challenge together in a structured, safe environment, real trust follows. Not the kind trust-falls manufacture, the kind that lasts.
06 — Lead with Calm Authority
Effective leadership isn’t loudest in the room, it’s most grounded. Your leaders will leave with an expanded capacity to hold space, command respect, and stay composed.
How Boundary Guard Team Building Works
A structured, facilitated experience designed for real teams, not athletes. Every session is tailored to your organization’s culture and goals.
We start with a discovery call to understand your team’s specific challenges, dynamics, and goals. Every Boundary Guard experience is custom-designeD, not a template dropped on your calendar.
Your team comes to our Dripping Springs facility, or we bring the experience to you, for a half-day session. Physical activities are always modified for all ability levels. The mat is a tool, not a barrier.
The real work happens in the debrief. Joao facilitates a structured conversation connecting every physical experience directly to your team’s workplace dynamics, with clear takeaways and practice frameworks they can use immediately.
Built for teams who are ready to go deeper.
Boundary Guard Team Building is not for every organization. It is for the ones serious about creating cultures where people can do their best work, because they feel safe, seen, and equipped.
